The Big Picture in Benzie County

Since 2008, CRA and partners have poured efforts into the Betsie River, Platte River and Otter Creek. These watersheds course through large tracts of public land and are popular for just about every outdoor sport. Our approach for restoration work has been one of packaging multiple projects into larger phases of funding and labor. In doing so, we save capital resources and time while seeing real change on a watershed-wide scale.

2018 Seedling Give-A-Way for Donors
We’d like to say thank you for being a CRA supporter with our annual free seedling give-a-way. Anyone who has made a donation to CRA in the last year is eligible. Orders will be taken while supplies last. We have a limited number of free seedlings – early reservations are encouraged. Seedlings must be ordered in bundles of 25* with a limit of 50 of any one species. Limit 150 total seedlings per household.
Good Work Done Right on the Jordan River
Poorly constructed or failing road/stream crossings contribute unnatural amounts of sediment and often prevent fish and other aquatic species from moving upstream. Characteristics that define failing crossings include culverts or other structures that are too small for the water flow, poorly aligned, too short for the stream channel, perched or simply falling apart. Addressing “worst first” problems, CRA is replacing the most severely degraded crossings with bridges and modern structures to control runoff, restore fish passage and improve public safety. And that’s exactly what we did on the Jordan River
Thank You Boathouse
Big thank you to the The Boathouse Restaurant on Old Mission Peninsula for hosting the fifth annual Michigan Wild Game Wine Dinner on Saturday, February 3. Over $15,000 has been raised to support CRA through this great event.
The Boardman: A River Reborn - New Year Update
The snow has kept life relatively quiet on the Boardman River as partners prepare for what’s coming next in what’s sure to be another big year for The Boardman: A River Reborn. We have a lot of fantastic partners to thank in an undertaking of this size including the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative for their stalwart dedication to restoring the river.
