Wild Link Progress Update

October 11, 2006

Thanks to the support and cooperation of landowners, partner organizations, agencies, and funding organizations, CRA is able to report substantial growth, and important steps forward, in the Wild Link program over the past year. We are making solid progress on every front as we develop, test, and refine this innovative new program.
Landowners are not only participating, but are investing in program development. And we are better understanding the motivations, constraints, and nuances of moving the project forward. With each step we come closer to the program’s long-term goals of healthy, connected ecological corridors throughout northern Michigan and a model for even broader connections.
Interest among landowners and local project partners is high. Also, there seems to be movement in certain key agency programs to increase the priority of private lands, wetland and riparian corridors, and the multi-species and multi-habitat type approach that underpins Wild Link.
