Wild Link Grand Traverse Regional Expansion Gains Momentum

October 15, 2007

The Wild Link program has signed up the first landowner participants for the Grand Traverse regional expansion project. Plans for four properties are under way covering over 477 acres of wildlife habitat in Grand Traverse, Benzie, and Leelanau Counties. These properties are along critical wildlife corridors that were identified by CRA and our regional partners. Wildlife corridors provide food, cover, and migration routes for numerous species of wildlife and connect large pieces of contiguous wildlife habitat (i.e. state or federal lands). The properties are along the Cedar Run Creek corridor in Benzie and Leelanau counties and the southeast Kingsley corridor in Grand Traverse County. The habitat management plans are being written free of charge and are tailored to the goals of the individual landowners. If you have any questions about Wild Link please contact Eric Ellis at the CRA office.
