The Boardman: A River Reborn Summer Update

August 8, 2014

Over 80 people attended an informational open house to discuss the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Feasibility Study and Environmental Assessment. These documents address the need for and desirability of the coldwater restoration project.

Environmental review of the proposed action by the Corps indicates no significant cumulative or long-term adverse environmental impacts would be expected as a result of project implementation. The project would also result in a net increase in wetlands along the lower Boardman River. The Corps’ report suggested the project benefits to the environment outweigh the impacts of project construction and the elimination of the impoundments behind Boardman and Sabin Dams.
