CRA is also excited to share two new grant awards to support our work on the Jordan River including $20,000 from the Charlevoix County Community Foundation and $10,000 from the Oleson Foundation. These funds support Chestonia Bridge efforts and the replacement of Cokirs Creek crossing, adjacent to Chestonia Bridge.
Replacing the Cokirs Creek crossing is paramount to improving recreational access at this site. The box culvert over Cokirs Creek provides a two-lane entrance to a future recreational access site that is usable by various recreationists including paddlers, river guides, and snowmobilers.
Michigan DNR recently announced $150,000 in funding through their Waterways Program to improve recreational access at this location. Site plans include public access for small water craft such as canoes, kayaks and drift boats. Stay tuned for more!
Funders - Thank you for supporting this project!
