Siphon tubes have been utilized to draw the lakes level down so that a temporary coffer dam could be constructed and the existing spillway could be demolished. This also has allowed the old culverts under Woodland Road to be be removed in preparation for the construction of a new freespanning timber bridge. The end result will be a restored river channel where the lake stood for decades and connectivity of over 40 miles of Maple River main stem and tributaries. More natural stream function is the goal and that will soon be realized.
