Grand Traverse Band Invests in Conservation

February 22, 2016
The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa & Chippewa Indians has long been committed to the protection and enhancement of our natural resources and environment. The tribe recently gave a big boost to CRA’s River Care program through a $50,000 award as part of their 2% Revenue Sharing program. The funding comes from their video gaming revenue and is given out twice yearly.

CRA Program Coordinator Kira Davis noted, “The Grand Traverse Band is a valued partner that has demonstrated both a cultural and financial commitment to natural resource management, restoration and protection. The Band's dedication of staff, time and funding strengthens our focus on natural resources as a defining characteristic for quality of life in our region. Investing in these efforts proactively ensures that our waters and land will remain spectacular.”

Big thanks to the Grand Traverse Band for this award and for their strong leadership in natural resource management.
