"The U.S. Forest Service has been a partner with CRA for over a dozen years in watershed restoration projects on the Huron-Manistee National Forests in northern Michigan, including the Pere Marquette, Pine and Little Manistee River watershed restoration programs. Our rivers transcend many political boundries and CRA has long been recognized as leader in developing innovative partnerships to bridge these boundries, addressing problems that are beyond the capabilities of any one of the partners. Currently, the Forest Service, CRA, Michigan DNR, and Consumers Energy are addressing soil erosion on the Big Manistee River through such a partnership. I often serve as the Forest Service coordinator to many of these projects through my position as Fisheries Biologist, and my experiences with CRA have been extremely positive. CRA often serves as project administrator and does an excellent job in implementation as well as facilitating the various partners' interests. Simply put, they get the job done.
I feel River Care is a creative approach to addressing problems associated with rivers in northern Michigan. It has the potential to serve as a vehicle for finding solutions to these problems. Therefore, I support it and CRA's implementation of this innovative program."
